Mission

"The mission of the Save the Fireworks Foundation is to preserve the annual 4th of July fireworks Celebration for the Charlottesville area.

The group was formed in 2002 when other interests announced they would no longer be producing the event due to funding restraints.

The Save the Fireworks Foundation was formed by an informal group of concerned citizens that refused to allow this tradition to die.

Since our area is the birthplace of Thomas Jefferson, the drafter of the Declaration of Independence, this celebration is a vital part of our heritage."

The annual 4th of July Festival in McIntire Park is a true community event.

With generous support form the City, the County, and private businesses, we put on a five hour event to celebrate the birthday of our country.

Over 15,000 attend the festivities and an estimated 10,000 watch from various locations around town.

	It would be unforgiveable if the number one city in North America and the birthplace of Thomas Jefferson failed to celebrate the 4th of July. That's why a dedicated group of volunteers has been working to organize and raise money for the annual event at McIntire Park.
